How to Insert Footnotes and Endnotes in WPS Writer

How to Insert Footnotes and Endnotes

Footnotes, further details or explanation, which are located at the bottom of the current page or below the text. Endnotes or references, which are located at the end of a file. The way to insert the footnotes and endnotes are shown as below:

Step 1: Put the cursor to the place where you wnat to insert footnote or endnote.

Step 2: Open the References tab and click the Set icon. It will pop up a dialog box, like this:

Step 3: If you want to insert a footnote, select Footnotes option and choose the place of footnote at the bottom of the page or below the text. If you want to insert an endnote, select Endnotes option and choose the place of endnote at the end of document or at the end of section.

Step 4: Select a number format in the Number format drop-down list.

Step 5: Enter a number in the Start at box.

Step 6: Select types of numbering.

Step 7: Please click the insert button to complete the insertion of the footnote and endnote.

Input the content to footnote or endnote. Like this:

Edit Footnotes/ Endnotes

If you want to move the footnote or endnote:

Step 1: Select the the footnote or endnote.

Step 2: Move the cursor over the note and hold the left mouse button. Drag the note to the new location, then release the button.

Tips: You can also use the Cut and Paste command to move the footnote and endnote.

Convert Footnotes/ Endnotes

Footnotes can be converted to endnotes, and vice versa.

Step 1: Click ‘Setting’ below References’, there is a Convert option.

Step 2: You can choose ‘Convert all footnotes to endnotes’ ‘Convert all endnotes to footnotes’ or ‘Swap footnotes and endnotes’.

Navigate Footnotes/ Endnotes

You can navigate to the previous or next footnote in the document by clicking ‘Previous Footnote’ or ‘Next Footnote.’

You can navigate to the previous or next endnotes in the document by clicking ‘Previous Endnotes’ or ‘Next Endnotes.’
