How to recover files deleted by mistake and unsaved files, and view backup files

Windows

Android

1. Recover unsaved files and view backup files

In emergencies such as a power outage, WPS Office allows you to create backup files at any time. Therefore, you can easily recover or retrieve your files. WPS Writer is used as an example:

1. Recover files as prompted

If a file is not saved or closes unexpectedly, the simplest way is to restart WPS Writer and then click View Backup to recover your backup file as prompted.

2. Find a lost file from local files

If your program closes before you press Ctrl+S, you can find these recovered files and select the file that you want to save. If no prompts appear, you can perform the following steps to find these recovered files:

Step 1: Click Writer, and choose Menu > Backup and Recovery > Auto Backup.

Step 2: In the backup management panel, click View Details.

Step 3: Find the file that you want to recover. Click Open All to open all the files that have been backed up. You can select the file that you want to recover and save it as a copy.

Note:

When you use some cleaning software to clean your computer, make sure that you have changed the settings. This way, the cleaning program will not delete your backup files.

2. Recover files deleted by mistake

If you delete your cloud file by mistake, check your recycle bin in WPS Cloud. To check your recycle bin, click Home to go to the home page of WPS Office, and then choose Open > Recycle Bin. Find your file, and click Recover to recover it.

Then, you can go back to My Cloud Files to find the file. You can search for the file in the search box and click Open, or find the file in the folder.
