Operation Steps
Merge Table Feature Entry
Feature Entry
"Data" tab → "Merge Table" button
- Open a WPS Spreadsheet online collaboration document
- Click the "Data" tab at the top
- Find the "Merge Table" button on the right side of the toolbar
- Click to open a dropdown menu with two options: "Merge Table" (first merge) and "Re-merge" (refresh existing merge)

Merge Table (First Merge)
Feature Entry
"Data" tab → "Merge Table" button → Select "Merge Table" from the dropdown menu
- After clicking "Merge Table", the "Merge Worksheets" dialog box pops up
- Click the "Select..." link in the upper right corner, and in the file picker that appears, check one or more worksheets to merge
- Set merge options:
| Setting Item | Description | Default State |
|---|---|---|
| Worksheet contains header | When merging, only keep the header from the first sheet; skip header rows from subsequent sheets | Unchecked |
| Header row count | After checking header, set the number of rows the header occupies | 1 row |
| Remove duplicate rows | For duplicate data entries, keep only the first one | Unchecked |
| Merge to | Choose where to output the merge result | Overwrite current worksheet |
| Indicate data source | Mark which source worksheet the data comes from | Unchecked |
| Auto-update data | Automatically sync merge results when source sheets change | Unchecked |
- Choose to merge to "New Worksheet" (default) or another target location
- Click the "Start Merge" button to execute the operation

Re-merge
Feature Entry
"Data" tab → "Merge Table" button → Select "Re-merge" from the dropdown menu
- When data in the source worksheets changes (e.g., collaborators add or modify data)
- Click "Re-merge" to refresh the merge results based on the previous merge settings
- No need to reconfigure data sources and merge options

FAQ
Q1: What should I do if duplicate data appears after merging?
- Solution: In the "Merge Worksheets" dialog box, check the "Remove duplicate rows" option, and the system will automatically remove completely duplicate rows. This feature determines duplication based on the entire row content; if two rows are only partially identical in some columns, they will not be recognized as duplicate rows.
Q2: Can I still merge if the column order of each source worksheet is inconsistent?
- Solution: Yes, you can merge, but it is recommended that each source worksheet maintains a consistent column structure (same column names and order) to ensure data alignment. If the column structure differs significantly, data misalignment may occur after merging. It is recommended to unify the column structure of each sheet before merging.
Q3: In collaboration mode, if multiple people modify the source worksheets simultaneously, will the merge results update in real time?
- Solution: Only when the "Auto-update data" option is checked will the merge results automatically sync with changes in the source sheet data. If this option is not checked, you need to manually refresh via "Re-merge" after source sheet modifications. It is recommended to ensure "Auto-update data" is checked for scenarios requiring real-time synchronization.
Notes
- Before merging, ensure the data column structure of each source worksheet is consistent to avoid data misalignment after merging
- After checking "Auto-update data", the merge result will become a dynamic link, updating in real time as the source sheets change, which may affect performance (when data volume is large)
- The "Indicate data source" feature is suitable for scenarios where tracing the origin of raw data is needed, facilitating subsequent verification4. In collaborative scenarios, it is recommended that the document owner perform the merge operation centrally to avoid data conflicts caused by simultaneous operations by multiple users.
